Spokane Blog, Blogging and Bloggers

THE GOODS:
Spokane Blog Feeds (with help from Kinja)
Index of Spokane blogs (thanks to Spokesman Review)

[Updated with the new button]

So... the latest: Spokesman-Review (Ken Sands and company) have done a spiffy good job of creating an index of local bloggers. Props to them for what must have been quite a job of collecting all the local bloggers (albeit with some extra pull value for the fame seekers among us). Very nice work there, make sure you check it out.

Next: my plans with BlogSpokane.com are to create a running display of all local bloggers and their posts so you can read them all in one place. Essentially an RSS reader, specific to Spokane blogs. Well... farbeit from me to re-invent the wheel. The new Kinja service has a splendid band-aid solution until I have the time to do it properly. So I've hijacked it for our nefarious purposes and created a compilation of local Spokane blog feeds.

Here's how it works: if you are listed on the S-R page today (4/5/04) you should be on this feed list. If you are not, email me or leave a comment and I'll add you. If you are there, but wish not to be, just let me know and I'll get you deleted from the index. Note that it will probably take a couple days for things to start showing up in the correct order.

For those of you that would like to use the spiffy "Spokane Bloggers" buttons below, grab one and link it to BlogSpokane.com. Using that link (instead of linking to Kinja directly) will insure that you always link to the current version of whatever I've concocted to keep us all connected (but then again it's a free country, do what you want).

[Update 6/7/04] After deliberations, a final single BlogSpokane image was selected by popular vote.

(Please put the image on your own server before you put it on your page.)

Some more:

I also put an alt-text of "I'm a Spokane Blogger!" on mine.

[end update]

So I'm seeing a surprising number of Google searches for "Blog Spokane" or "Spokane Blog" or "Spokane Blogging" that end up here. So I've created BlogSpokane.com.

I thought that the setup you did with Kinja for the Spokane blogs was pretty nifty, so I checked out the service and am using it for my journal for some blogs I like to keep track of. I'm a computer novice so thank you for the tip :)

Just an FYI Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch is coming to Aunties Bookstore in the form of the Time Bandits Jonathan and Andy Hillstrand. These two brothers co-capitan the Time Bandit and have recently written a book relaying tales from the sea's deadliest job. These brothers are the same men that rescued an overboard crabber last season and are known for their pranks at sea. Should be entertaining and exciting. The event is Monday, May 19th @ Aunties Bookstore at 7:30 pm on the 2nd floor auditorium. Space is abundant but chairs are limited so feel free to bring your own.
