Kryptonite gets it!

I love good business stories like this.
Remember this story? It broke last week, turns out you can open any Kryptonite lock with a ballpoint pen if you know what you are doing.
Not good.
Not good for Kryptonite.
Horrible, terrible and completely unacceptable is more like it.
So what is Kryptonite to do?
There's only 1 answer. There's only 1 way they could have made this right for their consumers.
And I'm happy to report, they are doing it.
From the Kryptonite website. In part:
Unprecedented Offer Intended to Address the Needs of Loyal ConsumersCanton, MA September 17, 2004 - Kryptonite today announced it will provide free product upgrades for certain locks purchased since September 2002, in response to consumer concerns about tubular cylinder lock technology. Consumers can visit the company’s Website (www.kryptonitelock.com) on Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2004, to learn how they can participate in the security upgrade program.
Consumers who have purchased an Evolution lock, KryptoLok lock, New York Chain, New York Noose, Evolution Disc Lock, KryptoDisco or DFS Disc Lock in the last two years are eligible for a product upgrade free of charge from Kryptonite.
Most outfits foolishly would have been tempted to spin, twist or escape in an attempt to save money. Which would have been a collosal failure.
Good for your Kryptonite. Way to turn a nightmare PR disaster into an opportunity to show customers how you really feel about them.
