Some CEOs surf Web to see how they're being portrayed

Dubbed "CEgO surfing."

All these ego surfers should start up a blog to provide the "straight scoop." (And it won't hurt that their own blog will dominate the search results).

Amazon helps

Neat way to help the Tsunami victims. Way to go Amazon!.

Golden Frog Awards - 2004

  • Best New Show : Lost
  • Best Comedy Show : Arrested Development. (Brilliantly written and cast--actually the funniest TV comedy ever. I have to pause it about 10 times per ep to recover from laughing so I don't miss anything.)

  • Best Local Blog : CoffeeHouse (Prolific, high quality.)

  • Best Fiction Book : Goose Girl (read the first chapter and tell me that doesn't suck you in, what writing!)
  • Best Tech Fad : Camera Cell Phones

  • Best online deal site: CSB (a newcomer, he's got great stuff constantly. Not as focused as slickdeals, but that's ok by me)

There are a zillion more of these I'd like to do, but no time!

About time someone called hogwash on this absurd practice.

I understand the need for copy protection, but the legal rat's nest and contradictory store policies we're all supposed to ignore is simply another unacceptable method of mistreating customers.

In January 2003, California resident Cathy Baker walked into her local CompUSA store to return copies of Windows XP and Norton AntiVirus she'd purchased there. When trying to install the programs, she had of course been confronted by all the obnoxious terms in the Windows and NAV End User License Agreements. Instead of clicking OK, she took them back to the store for a refund, as the EULAs said she was supposed to do if she refused to accept the terms.

Read on to see how it ends. (preview: a lawsuit, a judgement and some changes are already taking place)

Tsunami info

I point you to Wikipedia's coverage which is excellent.

Scoble writes a letter to Bill Gates

Scoble to Gates -> let's make a real media player to compete with the iPod.
This has some great jewels and ideas in it. It's insanely bold, but it's also what makes Scoble great. His idea is interesting. I'm not sure it would work, but it's certainly better than their current direction. And work, it just might.
