Help Wanted: Web UI design guru

at 02:57 PM
I need a web UI design guru.
- Someone way good.
- Someone that specializes in web UI design.
- Someone with a talent and eye for design that is at once visually pleasing, and usable.
- Someone that isn't full of themselves.
- Someone very comfortable with CSS/XHTML/Javascript.
- (Working Ajax knowledge is an instant shoe-in.)
- A full time freelancer (it's a big project, moonlighters probably won't have the needed time).
- Someone eager to work in a team environment and make everyone else look good.
- Someone that is plugged into the industry and is familiar with the current UI design community thinking.
- Someone who responds rapidly to emails and produces good work quickly.
- Someone that is eager to take on a project that will challenge them.
Is that you? Drop me a line.
Do you know of anyone that fits the bill? I hope you'll pass this on if you do.

Ajax: a new approach to web applications

Have you noticed how gmail seems super fast. It's not like normal web applications where you submit a page, wait for it to process, and get a result back. It all happens seemingly instantly. Ta-Da lists does it too. Well this super-spiffy non-post-back technology has a name. I give you Ajax . It's short for Asynchronous JavaScript + XML and it's the technology behind that functionality. I personally love it as a user, and can't wait to implement it as a developer. Jason Fried has even more to say.

Well - IMO they're coming closer than they ever have. The newest Google Toolbar hijacks your pages and puts links in that you didn't put there. Thankfully, at least for now, Zeldman offers a cure.

You can use the "movie:" tag to precede a search and it will contextualize your search to movies. Not an imdb killer for sure, but spiffy nonetheless.

Are you guilty of this?

This is what happens when you require someone to give you their personal information before you give them free stuff on your site.
And that's just the ones that don't turn around and never come back.

So you submit a list of all your DVDs (that you are willing to trade I guess) to the site.
So does everyone else.
You pick a DVD from the list you want, it's sent to you.
So does everyone else.
Think P2P meets Netflix. Interesting concept. Will be interesting to see how they do. I don't have a vast DVD collection - and everything I have I'm keeping - but I know I'm atypical in that.
