I'm done multi-tasking.

Or at least, I want to be. We'll see if I can pull it off, it's going to take some careful planning and time management, but I was listening to this podcast and Cameron made some off-handed remark about multi-tasking and the potential for inefficiencies and it donned on me. My single biggest productivity killer is context switching. And as a SEM consultant, marketing/business consultant, web developer, web designer, entrepreneur, WorkHappy.net blogger, web site maintainer, hosting provider, IT guy, business owner... well, let's just say I can hit a wall.

So I'm giving it a whirl, starting in September. I'm going to give it 1 solid week. I'm only going to check my email 3x/day (during work hours). I'm going to close IM, Bloglines, etc. And I'm going to devote each day to a single project, as much as possible (will probably have to start at about 10:30am once morning fires are put out).

I'm really hoping for a solid productivity boost. Wish me luck, I'll report back.

I tried that once... didn't work. I slipped right back into my old ways. You are who you are.

good luck though.

Yeah, I kinda hope that my lust for power and money (which will come as a result of the increased productivity) will keep me driven.

Curious...how did your week go? Any lessons/thoughts/findings to share?
